Hi All,
I apologise that you havent heard from me in a while but its just been a really busy Christmas period. With any luck we will have another Solidworks User Group Meeting soon….
With that in mind, I am actually looking for volunteers that would be interested in presenting something at one of the WA Solidworks User Group Meetings. The topic can be anything you like, from how you use Solidworks, some tips and tricks that you have learnt over your time using Solidworks, or just something interesting that you think other WASWUG memebers would like to hear about.
If you have anything that you could talk about or know someone that might like to present something can you please get in touch with me at ohetherington@waswug.net
Hope to hear from you guys soon.
Thanks
-Owen

Hi All,
Just a quick reminder about the November WASWUG Meeting:
The November WA Solidworks User Group will happen on Thursday the 10th of November at the Balmoral Hotel in Victoria Park. The following will be presented at the meeting:
5:30 – 6:30pm: Networking (Finger Food Provided – RSVP for accurate quantities)
6:30 – 7:00pm: Solidworks at Total Marine Technology
7:15 – 7:45pm: What’s new in Solidworks Simulation 2012
8:00 – 8:30pm: Modo 501 and Solidworks
Hopefully the above presentations should be of interest to a few people. I am especially excited about presenting the capabilities of Modo 501 and Solidworks. For those that may have attended a recent meeting about the upcoming release of Solidworks 2012 you should also be interested in hearing more about the new features and also having another opportunity to ask questions.
Please remember to register using the following link so that the meeting can be properly catered.

Hi All,
As mentioned in the previous post I am planning on holding the next WASWUG meeting on Wednesday the 9th of November at the Balmoral Hotel again. At this stages I am thinking of having the following presentations:
Presentation 1: What’s New in Solidworks 2012 – This should be a presentation on some of things that may have been missed out in the official reseller presentations and a more in depth demonstration of the interesting ones.
Presentation 2: Modo 501 and Solidworks – I have recently been given a trial of Modo 501 and their new Solidworks Kit. This allows Solidworks models to be imported into the software really easy to create stunning renderings and animations. I will demonstrate the use of the Solidworks kit live (hopefully)
Presentation 3: I am currently searching for a third presenter so if you know of anyone who may be able to help me out can you get them to contact me through the website.
Hopefully I will have the details finalized over the next week but again if you know of any potential presentations let me know…

I am just beginning to plan the next User Group Meeting. At this stage I am thinking of Wednesday the 9th of November at the Balmoral Hotel again as I received a bit of positive feedback from the last meeting. One presentation at the meeting will definitely be features of the new release of Solidworks (2012) so if you are interested in seeing what Solidworks have come up with this year make sure you come along.
If you have any other comments or suggestions leave a comment to this post.

Hi All,
Just a quick thank-you to all those who came along to the meeting last week. It was great to see a good turnout – hopefully this will continue on the future meetings. If you have any feedback about the meeting please email me or post on comment on this blog. I have also set up another poll (over to the right) on what you thought of the venue so please take a second or two to vote to let me know what you thought of the Balmoral Hotel.
For those that missed out at the end, I mentioned some vouchers I got from I GET IT. They are an online training company that provides self paced Solidworks (and many others) training courses. They have given us a special offer of 15% OFF any of their Solidworks Training Bundles until the end of August. Head along to www.myigetit.com and use the Coupon Code “WASWUG”
Thanks again for the great support at the last meeting. I will start planning the next meeting soon however it will probably be held every 3 months, meaning the next one should be the start of November.
Cheers

The details for the next WA Solidworks User Group have finally been worked out (see below). The meeting will be held in a new central location – at the Balmoral Hotel in Victoria Park. This should make it easier for people to get there after work, and also provide a great atmosphere for catching up and networking before and after the event.
The program for the night consists of the following:
5pm – 6pm: Networking (Finger Food provided)
6pm – 6:30pm: Tips and Tricks presentation
6:45pm – 7:15pm: Update from UWA Motorsport and their progress this year
7:30pm – 8pm: Presentation from SolidCAM in the use of Solidworks in CNC machining
I have also managed to secure some great prizes from the guys at I GET IT. They provide a massive library of training courses for many different design software packages. I have a couple of free accounts for training as well as discounts for anyone who misses out on those.
I have also decided to use Eventbrite to track attendance for the meeting. This is so that food can be ordered appropriately so please click on the link below to confirm your attendance.

Hi All,
I have been told of some more Solidworks contracting work that is available. There is an immediate need for a Solidworks Contractor for an international oil and gas company based in Perth. The work would involve and easy modelling project, converting AutoCAD drawings in Solidworks followed by a long term working relationship performing interesting subsea equipment design, modelling and drafting.
